state Tournament at University of Utah

I am at the U of U today for the LEGO Robotics tournament. It is a lot of fun. I am learning soooo much. Ethan was here for a few hours, while his Mom was attending a training. We took lots of notes that will hopefully help us when we get back.
Remember.... We will be meeting again after next week.
BEACON has asked us to their parent night and I will have information on that soon. We need a few kids to show up and just play arou nd with the robot on the table and answer questions.

Let me know if you can do this!

Taking a BREAK

We will be taking a couple of weeks off. We will be back to work on Tuesday February 7th at 3:30.
Beginning Feb. 7th we will start working on a demonstration for the HMK ART FAIR that will be held on March 1. I am hoping the kids can buddy up and do 2- 4 missions from 4-7 pm. I am planning to have them make some posters with information about FIRST LEGO League.
On March 6 BEACON will begin the third trimester CLUBS. I will be doing a beginners club, and will have the TEAM meat on the same day. I am thinking TUESDAYS. Let me know if you have a conflict with that.
Our next DEMO will be for the Science Fair at HMK and that will be in the afternoon on Thursday April 19th.

INFORMATION  on the Qualifier.... There is a nice article int he Salt Lake Tribune today (January 9, 2012).
Emery Telecom video taped the qualifier and you can purchase a tape of it by emailing them at dvds@etv.net
They told me they would be $12.00
They will also be showing it on channel 10 locally but did not have a date or time.

Lastly if you got any good pictures of the event I would like copies. Please email them to me at grawetl@grandschools.org OR kayentahmk@gmail.com  You could also make a CD if you prefer and send it to school with a kid.

Thanks for your support.

News from our Team

So the boys have chosen a name we are officially RoboCreeps, Team #1903! They are working on logos and seem to be getting excited about things.
The designer of this years' Robot Game has made a video, explaining the game that the Team may want to watch a few times. CLICK HERE to view it.
The PDF file of the Robot Game and the Updates are at THIS SITE.

I told the kids today that they should probably be watching as many of the video as they can to get ideas - some of the videos can be found on the same page as the Designer's video... just click on PLAYLIST and they will appear on the right, and below the video.
THIS is the site we used to set up the mat the first time.

You can also Google FLL - Food Factor-  or other related topics.
If you find something good, let me know and I will share it.

Til next week......
